Locate Nevada Southern Detention Center Detainees

Nevada Southern Detention Center is a CoreCivic federal contract detention facility in Pahrump, not a Nye County jail roster facility. A Nevada Southern Detention Center inmate lookup depends on custody type: federal sentenced custody, federal pretrial or U.S. Marshals custody, or possible immigration detention. The county sheriff app does not control this facility. Families should use federal locators, ICE channels when relevant, and direct facility contact for people who may not appear in a public federal database.

Nevada Southern Federal Facility

Nevada Southern Detention Center is located at 2190 East Mesquite Avenue in Pahrump and is operated by CoreCivic. CoreCivic lists the facility customer base as U.S. Marshals Service, the facility type as medium, and ownership or operation since 2010. The facility is in Nye County, but it is not the sheriff's Pahrump jail and it is not searched through the Nye County jail roster. That difference is critical when a person was arrested locally, transferred to federal court, or held under a federal contract.

The CoreCivic Nevada Southern facility page gives the facility address, phone number, customer base, facility type, money links, PREA material, and other facility information.

Use that facility source for Nevada Southern details, then use federal or immigration locator paths based on the person's custody status.

Research also documented ICE-related inspection and oversight history tied to Pahrump detention sources. That history should not be blended with current county jail lookup rules. DHS OIG material states that ICE leadership terminated its contract with Nye County in November 2024 and no longer housed detainees at the county Pahrump facility. Nevada Southern is a separate CoreCivic facility with its own contact, visitation, money, and PREA reporting materials.

Nevada Southern Population Data

The best current population detail for Nevada Southern comes from the 2026 CoreCivic PREA audit. The audit lists designed capacity, current population, average daily population for the prior 12 months, housing units, staffing, custody levels, and age and sex coverage. Those figures belong to the federal contract facility and should not be counted as Nye County sheriff jail capacity or county jail average daily population.

Nevada Southern Detainee Lookup

Lookup at Nevada Southern depends on which federal agency controls the person. A sentenced federal inmate may appear in the BOP inmate locator. A federal pretrial detainee in U.S. Marshals custody may not appear in BOP if the person has not been sentenced or committed to BOP custody. Immigration custody, when relevant, uses ICE ODLS and ICE contact channels. There is no public federal mugshot gallery for Nevada Southern, and federal booking photos should not be promised.

  1. Use the BOP inmate locator for sentenced federal inmates or people in BOP custody.
  2. Search by register number when possible, or by first, middle, last name, race, age, and sex.
  3. If the person is federal pretrial or U.S. Marshals custody, call Nevada Southern at 775-751-4500 for facility routing.
  4. Use ICE ODLS if immigration detention is possible.
  5. If the person was arrested on local Nye charges, start with NCSO before assuming federal custody.

The BOP locator displays federal result columns such as name, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location.

Nevada Southern Contact Details

Call the facility for general routing when federal pretrial, U.S. Marshals, or facility-specific custody status is possible. The CoreCivic page lists John Mattos as warden beginning in July 2025, but family lookup should go through the public facility phone or the relevant federal agency rather than media or corporate public-affairs channels.

Nevada Southern Visitation Schedule

Nevada Southern's visitor PDF states that general visits are non-contact by TV monitor. No application is needed, and anyone may visit if they have not previously been detained at the facility. Visits are first come basis, limited to one hour, and limited to one visit per detainee each week except clergy. Extended out-of-state visits require prior approval. Visitors need current state or federal photo identification, must clear a metal detector, and may keep only limited items such as ID, keys, $20 or less cash, and limited infant supplies.

The 2017 visitor PDF listed local taxi service as the only public transportation option and named Integrity Taxi at 775-751-1111. Because that source is older, verify transportation, parking, and visit status before travel.

Nevada Southern Money Rules

Nevada Southern uses money methods that differ from Nye County jail kiosks. Research identified Western Union, lockbox money orders or cashier checks, and ViaPath or ConnectNetwork payment instructions. Money orders and cashier checks must include the detainee first and last name, detainee number, and facility code NEVSO. Personal checks, cash, letters, cards, photos, and packages should not be included with lockbox money orders.

Nevada Southern Records Boundaries

Nevada Southern records should be separated from county jail, state prison, and court records. The sheriff app is useful for Nye County Detention Center custody, but Nevada Southern is not under the county jail roster. NDOC covers sentenced Nevada state prisoners, not federal contract detainees. BOP covers federal inmates in BOP custody from 1982 to present, but it may not show a federal pretrial detainee held for the U.S. Marshals Service.

PREA and inspection records are also not inmate locator tools. The 2026 PREA audit gives facility-level facts such as capacity, population, housing units, staff contact counts, and standards compliance. It does not provide a public detainee list. CoreCivic's facility page includes PREA reporting information, and the research notes separate reporting channels for USMS and ICE-related concerns. Those channels are for safety reporting and oversight, not for replacing the BOP locator, ICE ODLS, or a direct facility custody call.

Nevada Southern's federal role also affects money, visitation, and records expectations. County jail mail rules do not apply there. NCSO video visitation does not apply there. County public-records requests do not force release of federal detention records held by a contractor or federal agency. If the person began with a Nye County arrest, the county jail or court record may explain the local charge path, but the federal hold or federal detention status must be confirmed through the federal or facility channel that controls custody.

USMS custody
Federal custody often tied to pretrial detention, court movement, or federal warrants.
BOP custody
Federal Bureau of Prisons custody, usually after federal commitment or sentencing.
ICE ODLS
The official immigration detainee locator used when immigration detention is possible.
PREA
The Prison Rape Elimination Act audit framework that reports facility compliance and population characteristics.

Note: Do not expect Nevada Southern mugshots in a public gallery; federal booking photos are not posted like a county roster.
